Useful for exams with a science section

General Science appears in the General Awareness and General Studies papers of many competitive exams. Only the depth changes: SSC and RRB ask direct NCERT-level facts (RRB has a dedicated science section), UPSC asks conceptual science, technology and environment, and banking exams lean on space, defence and computer awareness.

Check your own exam’s latest syllabus. The book’s exam-wise strategy (page 3) and syllabus map (page 4) show which chapters matter most for SSC, RRB, UPSC, banking and State PSC, so you can choose where to spend your hours. The weightings are indicative.

Last-day revision, made simpler

Typical last-day revision

  • Science spans three subjects and hundreds of textbook pages
  • Units, formulae, vitamins and scientists are easy to mix up under pressure
  • Look-alike facts trip you up in the exam hall
  • It is hard to decide which chapters to prioritise

With this handbook

  • Key facts, one box per chapter
  • A mnemonic and one solved MCQ to lock it in
  • A trap list: one exam trap for every chapter
  • A 3-pass plan for your last day

What’s inside

Every chapter follows the same quick layout, so you revise faster as you go.

Key facts box

The units, laws, formulae, tables and facts that actually get tested, with no padding.

Mnemonic / shortcut

One memory trick per chapter to recall the sequence or list in the exam hall.

Solved example

An exam-style MCQ with the answer and a one-line reason.

Quick tip

The trap examiners set for this topic, and how to dodge it.

Exam traps (2 pages)

One trap per chapter, plus exam-hall traps to read on the morning of the exam.

Quick finders (2 pages)

A physics formulae and constants sheet, and a chemistry names and formulae finder.

See exactly what you get

Every chapter is one page in the same layout. Here is Chapter 1 as it appears in the book, followed by traps from the list at the back.

Chapter 1 · Units, Dimensions, Mass vs Weight

Key facts
■ 7 SI base units: metre (length), kilogram (mass), second (time), ampere (current), kelvin (temperature), mole (amount of substance), candela (luminous intensity).
■ Mass is constant everywhere (kg). Weight = mg and changes with g (newton). Moon’s g is about 1/6 of Earth’s.
■ 1 light-year = 9.46 × 10¹⁵ m (a distance, not time).
Mnemonic
“Metre-Kilogram-Second-Ampere-Kelvin-Mole-Candela”: M-K-S-A-K-M-C. Work and energy have the same dimensions and the same unit, joule.

Then a solved MCQ and the trap

Q. Which of the following is NOT an SI base unit?
(a) Kelvin
(b) Mole
(c) Newton
(d) Candela

Answer: (c) Newton is a derived unit (kg m s⁻²); the other three are base units.
Exam trap
Light-year is a unit of distance. Weight changes with place but mass never does. Strain and refractive index have no unit.

From the trap list at the back (page 45)

Ch 3. G ≠ g. Escape velocity (11.2 km/s) is independent of the projectile’s mass.
Ch 9. Ammeter in series; voltmeter in parallel. Electrons flow opposite to conventional current.
Ch 15. Mendeleev → atomic mass; Moseley → atomic number. F = most electronegative; He = highest ionisation energy.
Ch 23. Pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood. O = universal donor; AB = universal recipient.

Is this right for you?

A good fit if you

  • have studied NCERT-level science once and want a fast, structured revision
  • have an exam in the next few days or weeks
  • read on your phone and want short, scannable pages
  • want one trap to watch for in every chapter

Not the right book if you

  • are learning science from scratch and need full explanations
  • want a printed book or a full video course
  • expect a guarantee of marks or selection

Questions, answered

Is this for beginners?

It is a revision handbook, not a full course. It assumes you have studied the topics once from NCERT or standard textbooks. If you are starting from zero, use it as a map of what to learn, then come back to it before the exam.

Will it help for my exam?

If your exam has a general science or general awareness section, yes. That covers SSC, RRB, UPSC Prelims, defence exams, State PSCs and banking exams (for space, defence and computer topics). Depth differs by exam, so check your exam’s latest official syllabus.

How current is the content?

Chapters 32 and 39 cover ISRO missions and Nobel Prizes up to October 2026. Missions, prizes and records can change, so please re-check them from an official or trusted news source on the exam morning. A few numbers, such as chromosome counts and calorific values, differ slightly between textbooks, so follow your own textbook if an exam asks directly.

Are the MCQs from past papers?

No. They are original, exam-style practice questions written to reinforce each chapter.

How was the book prepared?

It was compiled with AI assistance from standard science sources, with recent developments (ISRO, Nobel Prizes) checked against public sources. As with any study aid, cross-check key facts with NCERT and official sources.

How do I get the book?

It is a PDF. You get the download link right after payment and can read it on any device.

Can I share it with friends?

Please don’t. The book is copyrighted. Ask your friends to buy their own copy for ₹49.

Can it guarantee a score?

No book can. This one helps you revise smarter in the final hours. Your results still depend on your practice and preparation.
